This makes you wonder about our border security. If people aren't worried than they should be. I am trying to see if immigration has a hold on him.

Seat belt citation leads police to 20-year Miami-Dade fugitive

A Miami-Dade fugitive wanted for 20 years on money-laundering and tax-evasion charges made one mistake during his life on the lam:

Plinio Enrique Del Valle, 66, got a traffic citation last year for not wearing a seat belt as a passenger in his wife's car.

U.S. Marshals were able to use that bit of information to track down Del Valle at an apartment in Southwest Miami-Dade on Tuesday.

Del Valle skipped town in August 1989 after he had posted a $125,000 bond, but he had failed to show up for his arraignment.

He fled to his native Colombia.

Del Valle later returned to the U.S. to live in New York and New Jersey, where he held odd jobs and got paid in cash to avoid leaving a trail, the marshals said.

The seat belt violation in 2008 put him back on the marshals' radar screen, in Miami.

Del Valle, now in custody, has a bond hearing on Monday.
