21 law officers accused of protecting drug cartel

TIJUANA: Mexico's organized-crime unit formally accused 21 Tijuana law enforcement officers, including five commanders, of providing protection to the Arellano Félix cartel, the federal Attorney General's Office announced yesterday.

The officers, 19 of them from the municipal police department and two of them state agents assigned to Tijuana, were suspended in mid-November and taken to Mexico City while they were under investigation.
Yesterday, a federal court approved the government's request to formally arrest the officers. They were transferred to a penitentiary in Tepic, in Nayarit state, where the case against them is to begin, the Attorney General's Office said.

The five municipal commanders included Rosalba González Molina, the special forces chief, and Javier Enrique Cárdenas Salgado, a longtime liaison to U.S. law enforcement authorities.

OOOOOOHHHH... BIG surprize there! NOT! Just following the lead of their corrupt Government.

I've e-mailed stories like this one to Senators Harkin and Grassley, but get very 'generic' (if any) responses. I do get better responses from Congressman King.

I don't think I'm the only one who sends these kinds of stories to federal reps. The obvious point is that Washington is aware of what's going on, but refuses to do anything to secure our side of the border, KNOWING that this is going on just a stone's throw away and bleeding into our country.
