Shootout reported in Matamoros

The U.S. Consulate in Matamoros reported an ongoing shootout shortly before 10:30 a.m. this morning.

In a tweet, the consulate said the fighting occurred in the Praderas, Palo Verde and Juarez neighborhoods, which are near Veterans International Bridge.

About an hour later, the consulate reported via Twitter that the shootout had reportedly ended.
