The FBI has arrested a Chinese national in the United States in connection with malware used in the 2015 breach of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), CNN is reporting.

The individual is said to face charges in connection with the Sakula malware, which has been linked to the OPM breach that exposed the personal information of millions of people.

The person in question was arrested on Wednesday after entering the U.S., CNN reported.

A spokesman for the FBI did not immediately return a request to confirm the report.

The government disclosed the OPM data breach in 2015, saying that it exposed the personal information of roughly 22 million Americans, most of them federal workers. The incident put the spotlight on vulnerabilities of federal networks and systems.

In late 2015, the Chinese government said that it had arrested a group of hackers tied to the OPM breach.
