4M U.S.-born kids of illegal immigrants reside in USA

Study: 4M U.S.-born kids of illegal immigrants reside in USA

    02:07 PM

About 4 million children in the United States -- or around 5% of all Americans under the age of 18 in 2009 -- were born in the U.S. of illegal immigrant parents, according to a new report issued today.

The study by the Pew Hispanic Center finds that the offspring of illegal immigrants accounted for about 340,000 of the 4.3 million babies born in the USA in 2008.

The study comes as some legislators, including Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, are calling for a revision of the 14th Amendment that grants automatic citizenship to anyone born in the United States.

Bob Dane, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, calls the automatic grant of citizenship to such children is one of the main magnets for illegal immigration. He says it saddles U.S. taxpayers with bills for Medicaid, education and future medical expenses.

Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, says stripping away birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants would put the country "on the brink of legalizing apartheid."

So we have an estimated 12 million (way low estimate) people here illegally and these knuckle heads from the Pew Hispanic Center are saying they've only had 4 million kids? Well I live in San Jose and you rarely if ever see a hispanic family with less than 2 kids minimum, so I'm thinking this 4 million number is more like 12 million at least.

This number is way low, they have averaged about 500,000 a year for many years, over 18 years that would be 9 million. Years back it might have been less so lets say 8 million or 10%, but then you also have all the anchors born to amnestied illegals, their children, and the anchor babies children, total is at least 20% to 25%.

Would someone PLEASE tell me what enforcing the immigration law and the correct application of the 14th amendment has to do with apartheid? These allegations from the open border freaks are coming farther and farther from left field as to be out of the ballpark! I wonder what they are going to think of next?

The anchor baby situation should be at the forefront of any discussion of the illegal immigration problem in this country. Birthing anchor babies is largely what is putting hospitals under, and having to provide education, medical care and food to these children is putting a severe strain on the states. These kids will soon be of age where they will be competing with American kids for college slots and grants, and eventually employment, all legally due to birthright citizenship.

I agree, we need to be able to deport illegal parents along with their "anchors", otherwise their high birth rate (paid for by us) will result in the North American Union along with the total loss of our freedoms and prosperity in 10 to 20 years.
