Deputies arrest 8 in ID theft at Scottsdale business - Phoenix
Eight workers at a Scottsdale company were arrested for using false documents to obtain employment, according to County Attorney Andrew Thomas.
According to court documents, investigators received a tip that illegal immigrants were working at the Scottsdale Art Factory, a furniture manufacturing company.
Upon further investigation, deputies found that the eight workers were using stolen or fictitious social security numbers.
The employees face charges of identity theft, and forgery, both considered class four felonies.
Thomas says he remains hopeful that this incident will set an example for businesses in the future.
"It's important to note that the vast majority of businesses in Maricopa County are following the law," he said in a statement. "It's hoped that these investigations will make any business think twice before hiring illegal immigrants."

Criminal complaints have been filed against eight people following a raid at a Scottsdale business in late January.
Sheriff's deputies raided the Scottsdale Art Factory and found illegal immigrants working there.
Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas says the company claims that it uses American labor.
"The company's Web site states its products are quote 'Designed in America and built in America by the hands of American master craftsmen.'"
The eight suspects are accused of forgery and using fake IDs and Social Security numbers.
