8 migrants dropped off by speedboat picked up in Town of Palm Beach

PALM BEACH – Eight migrants -- seven Haitians and one Jamaican – were picked up on or around the town's beaches Wednesday morning after landing by boat, the Border Patrol said.

Investigators believe the seven men and one woman were dropped off by a speedboat, probably from the Bahamas, around 2 a.m.

After the landing, the group scattered along Ocean Boulevard. They were quickly noticed, however, because of their furtive movements. Most could not speak English and several were in wet and sandy clothing, according to news partner NewsChannel 5.

The roundup ended around 10:30 a.m., but officials said several may have gotten away.

The migrants were being questioned by Border Patrol agents and checked for medical problems. Most will probably be returned to their homelands.

The Cubans in the car was more creative. Using a speedboat makes it too easy.
