CARLSBAD: Illegal immigrants caught with $21K of stolen beauty products

CARLSBAD ---- Four illegal immigrants from Honduras were arrested Tuesday night after Border Patrol agents found $21,000 worth of beauty products believed to be stolen in their car, U.S. Border Patrol agent Mark Endicott said.

The suspects, all men, were driving northbound on Interstate 5 in a Toyota Sienna and were pulled over at 8:50 p.m. by a Border Patrol agent who noticed the back of the car sagging significantly, Endicott said.

The agent found 10 duffel bags full of shampoo, perfume, skin-care and other beauty products in the car's trunk, Endicott said. The products are believed to have been stolen in a recent string of thefts from at least two San Diego drug stores, he said.

The suspects are being held for deportation, Endicott said. The San Diego Police Department is investigating their role in the recent thefts, he said.
