TX: Chase of suspected illegal immigrants leads to school

Chase of suspected illegal immigrants leads to school

    Apr 5, 2007
PALMVIEW, Texas Nobody has been hurt today in a chase of suspected illegal immigrants that ended at a South Texas school.

A spokeswoman with the La Joya (luh-HOY'-uh) Independent School Districts says none of the suspects went into E.B. Reyna Elementary School in Palmview.

But K-R-G-V television reports that some fleeing suspects ran into the building, and officers followed them.

At least eight people were detained.

The school was put on lockdown during the late-afternoon incident, which began with a chase, included a traffic wreck -- and the suspects running from their damaged vehicle.

No other details were immediately available.
