U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a 34-year-old Mexican woman with a pending assault charge Thursday in San Juan.

The Harlingen Fugitive Operations Unit arrested Claudia Yanira Cedeno-Arce, 34, a Mexican citizen who lives in San Juan, according to the federal criminal complaint against her and Hidalgo County court records.

"Record checks revealed the defendant was formally removed from the United States to Mexico on December 3, 2015 via the Hidalgo, Texas Port of Entry," according to the federal criminal complaint.

Cedeno was arrested during mid-March on a misdemeanor assault charge from 2014, according to Hidalgo County court records. She was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Immigration officers arrested her about two weeks later.

She's now charged with illegal re-entry.

Court records don't list an attorney for Cedeno, who remains in federal custody and couldn't be reached for comment.
