Activists swarm SB1070 ‘racial’ citizenship check in Tucson, crawl under Border Patrol SUV

A group of activists swarmed a traffic stop in Tucson on Sunday, and attempted to prevent the Border Patrol from taking away an undocumented immigrant who was pulled over for allegedly making an improper right turn.

Tucson Police Sgt. Chris Widmer told KGUN that the man did not have a driver’s license, and identified himself to the officers as an undocumented immigrant.

Officers contacted the Border Patrol, and when agents arrived in an unmarked SUV, protesters surrounded the traffic stop. Reports said that two women activists crawled underneath the SUV.

The women refused to come out, but the Border Patrol was eventually able to remove them. No protesters were reportedly arrested.

Protection Network Coalition activist Raul Alcaraz Ochoa suggested to KVOA that the traffic stop was just a ruse to stop undocumented immigrants.

“That is racial profiling,” he explained. “If it had been any other person, this wouldn’t have happened if he was white. So because he is brown, and he is a Latino, there was reasonable suspicion. And they called Border Patrol.”

According to police, Arizona’s SB1070 law requires them to verify citizenship, and turn in all undocumented immigrants to the Border Patrol.

The Protection Network Coalition planned additional rallies on Monday outside the Tucson Police Department.

What ? ? No arrests for interfering with an officer doing his job? "Just because he is brown,...." NO, he admitted he was undocumented!

Again, Hispanic is not a race. it is a mixed ethnicity. Mexican, however, is a nationality and perhaps they were just helping one of their fellow countrymen.
