Wellton Station Border Patrol agents responded to a call for help on Monday and rescued two suspected illegal entrants who had become lost in the desert south of Tacna.

According to a press release issued by agent Richard Withers, of the Yuma Sector Communications Division, the agency received a 911 call from the Yuma County Sheriffs Office indicating that the caller and another individual had become lost after illegally crossing into the United States.

An agent responding to the call and saw smoke coming from a fire in the distance. As he approached the fire, the agent observed the two men who made the 911 call.

A Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue unit arrived on scene shortly thereafter and administered medical treatment to both men for dehydration.

The two were transported to Wellton Station to be processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
