Agents Rescue Eight Individuals Over the Weekend

OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector rescued eight illegal aliens in distress in the Jacumba Wilderness region in two separate events over the weekend.

The first incident occurred on Friday at approximately 4:40 p.m., when El Centro Sector Communications Dispatch was notified by California Highway Patrol Communications of a distress call made by a group of three individuals.

The caller indicated that one of them was in and out of consciousness. The information was relayed to El Centro Station agents performing their assigned duties in the area and they responded to the location to begin searching for the trio.

Agents from El Centro Station made contacted with the caller by telephone at approximately 4:50 p.m. and were able to ask the caller for information. The subject on the phone stated they were near a windmill with the identification number T30. Agents used this information and were able to locate the trio at approximately 5:40 p.m.. Agents evaluated the trio and immediately requested Emergency medical Services (EMS). Agents on scene advised they would be transporting the trio to the Imperial County Fire Department Ocotillo substation building in Ocotillo in order to expedite medical care due to the remote area they were found. At approximately 6:17 p.m., an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance arrived on scene and took over care of the trio. AMR then transported the subject that was in and out of consciousness to a local hospital for further treatment. The other two individuals declined any further medical care.

All three individuals were determined to be illegal aliens from Mexico. Two of the three individuals, both males, were taken to the El Centro Station for further processing. The third individual, a female, was transported to El Centro Station once she was medically cleared from the hospital. The individuals were all expelled back to Mexico.

The second incident occurred early this morning at 1:00 a.m., when El Centro Sector Communications Dispatch was notified by California Highway Patrol Communications of a distress call made by a group of five individuals. The individual stated she and four others were lost and out of water. Agents responded and began to search for the group.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) agents and Horse Patrol agents found the group, provided water, and medically evaluated them. Agents determined that no one was injured and there was no medical attention needed.

The five individuals, all males, all illegal aliens from Mexico, were taken to the rally point for processing and expelled them back to Mexico.
