Smuggling U.S. currency, indecent assault and battery on child, among criminal convictions of 5 illegal aliens arrested in Western Massachusetts

SPRINGFIELD – Smuggling U.S. currency, gaming offenses and indecent assault and battery on a child were among the numerous criminal convictions of five illegal aliens recently in Western Massachusetts during a recent sweep by agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Agents announced Wednesday that a four-day sweep through Connecticut and Massachusetts resulted in the arrests of 45 illegal aliens with prior criminal convictions.

Illegal aliens in Longmeadow, Springfield, Holyoke and Pittsfield were arrested.

Agents will not release the names of those arrested because they are not criminal arrests, but rather administrative arrests on administrative immigration violations. Those names are not released per Department of Homeland Security policy.

Ross Feinstein, a spokesman for ICE, said criminal convictions against the illegal alien arrested in Longmeadow included smuggling U.S. currency, gaming offense, knowingly receiving stolen property, malicious destruction of property and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Two illegal aliens were arrested in Holyoke, one with convictions for drunken driving and indecent assault and battery on a child. The second had numerous criminal convictions, including numerous driving offenses, indecent assault and battery on a child, disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer.

Convictions against an illegal alien in Pittsfield included disorderly conduct, drunken driving, failure to register as a sex offender, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and indecent assault and battery on a child.

The sweep, named “Operation Threats Against the Community,” was conducted by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations officers.

All of those arrested are being held in custody pending immigration removal proceedings.

Thank you Deval Patrick for keeping these "people" free to roam the streets. Every one of those referred to had MULTIPLE arrests, and yet they were turned loose. Disgusting!
