    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A news conference and rally organized by six state lawmakers drew some 500 people to the front of the State House Wednesday afternoon to protest Governor Chafee's support for in-state tuition and possible driver's permits for undocumented immigrants.

    Some carried signs, some carried flags and a few even came with black carnations -- originally intended as a countermeasure to an earlier event on Wednesday in which children brought roses to the governor's office to thank him for his immigration policies.

    The event was spearheaded by state Rep. Doreen M. Costa, R-North Kingstown, who said she knew after last week's vote by the Board of Governors for Higher Education to approve in-state tuition for undocumented students that something had to be done.

    WPRO morning talk show host John DePetro acted as emcee and drew cheers as he lambasted Chafee, saying he is "not allowed to circumvent the law, "is not the king of Rhode Island" and should be fired for his actions.

    Costa, one of several speakers, said House Speaker Gordon D. Fox and Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed are also to blame for their silence as Chafee urged the higher education board to approve in-state tuition rates for undocumented students.

    Another speaker, Terry Gorman, executive director of Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement, was interrupted when about a dozen counter-protesters, dressed as anti-immigration clowns, gathered behind the speakers on the steps in front of the State House.

    As Gorman paused, DePetro chimed in, drawing laughs as he said Chafee's Cabinet and the Board of Governors for Higher Education had arrived.

    We have learned just in the last 24 hours of an important event in Rhode Island. The Governor of Rhode Island, Lincoln D. Chafee ((401) 222-2080 / governor@governor.ri.gov), is pushing for licenses and in-state tuition for illegal aliens at a time when most others are running from the issue.

    The globalists want Chafee to come out in the open like this to try and maintain the appearance that there is some legitimate support for replacing American kids in the limited seats in our colleges with illegal aliens. Only in very liberal leaning states like Maryland and Rhode Island can they advance this agenda at this time, and the brave folks in Maryland are about to reverse their in-state tuition law. More on that later.

    Good news!
    Went to the source link to see if there was a picture. There was not but noticed more has been added to the article at 7:23 pm.
    The remainder shown below.

    ~~~
    The rally ran more than an hour, finishing at about 6:25 p.m.
    Afterward, Rep. Peter G. Palumbo, D-Cranston, said he will be one of the lead sponsors next year of legislation to overturn the vote by the Board of Governors for Higher Education.
    "You start with that, the tuition, and then we're going to provide loans and money for them, and then it's driver's licenses, so it's a cart and a wheel, it's just going to start spinning and then before you know it's complete amnesty," he said. "That's the problem. If we secured the borders tomorrow I wouldn't have a problem with full amnesty, but the problem is we haven't stopped the bleeding, so it's just we can't keep giving all these incentives, especially for our state, we just can't do it. I mean we're hurting in every single area."
    Palumbo said the bill will be submitted "early in the session."
    He also said lawmakers will sponsor legislation to overturn driver's permits or licenses for undocumented immigrants if Chafee uses his executive powers to establish such a policy.
    Re: Rally draws 500 to State House to protest in-state tuiti
    None of this really matters.These people,"Governor Chafee's,and his helpers that support for in-state tuition and possible driver's permits for undocumented immigrants"will leave the building,walk among the people feeling Care Free with a smile on their faces,and break another law the next day,still with a smile on their faces simply because nothing will be done to stop them other than "Talk".In the America I grew up in these people would be afraid to leave home.
