SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Illegal immigrants face township housing ban
Applicants for local affordable units soon may be required to prove status

The Township Council plans to require applicants seeking affordable housing in South Brunswick to provide documentation proving they are in the country legally.

The ordinance, which has not been written, is meant to ensure a finite resource goes only to legal residents, and taxes are not used to subsidize those in the country illegally.

There are no state statutes covering the issue, and the state Council on Affordable Housing, which administers the program and sets guidelines and housing obligation numbers, does not have any regulations that require applicants be in the country legally to qualify for affordable housing, according to Township Attorney Don Sears.

Awesome. The only problem the church in Highland Park will create housing for these illegals. If not accepted in one town they will find another town.
Why can't the state and country be thinking like the council in South Brunswick?
