PRATTVILLE, Alabama -- The 32-year-old man accused of murder in the death of a Prattville woman is in the country illegally.

WSFA reports State Sen. Bryan Taylor, R-Prattville, says the office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed Romer Gonzales Jimenez, who is also known as Jose Luiz Jimenez, is an illegal immigrant.

Jimenez, who was arrested Wednesday, is accused of stabbing 29-year-old Angelica Margarita Gonzales-Perez to death Oct. 5, while their children were asleep in the next room.

He is being held at the Autauga Metro Jail with no bond.

The woman was found unresponsive in the living room of her mobile home in Carter’s Trailer Park by authorities on Monday night, Oct. 3. Gonzales-Perez, who had five children under the age of 10, suffered from multiple stab wounds.

A neighbor hear arguing and called 911. Paramedics were unable to revive the woman.
