ALIPAC’s President, William Gheen, has requested and received a temporary leave of absence from his position as Senator Hugh Webster’s Legislative Assistant to lobby NC elected officials.
“I want to make sure that our elected officials have the most current and accurate data on our illegal immigration problem says William Gheen. “They do not have complete information at this time. We have close to half a million illegals in NC, not 300,000, and they are creating an invisible hole in our state budget that is causing our budget shortfalls.
Gheen will be replaced by past state Senator Fern Shubert during his leave. Senator Shubert is knowledgeable of all office operations and is credited with her activism for license security. Senator Webster has stated that he is happy with Mr. Gheen’s work and looks forward to his return to the office.
El Pueblo, a nonprofit organization that received over $390,000 in taxpayer grants plans to lobby the NC legislature on Wednesday. They plan to ask the legislature to provide in-state tuition access to public universities in North Carolina.
“Lawmakers need to consider the fact that LEGAL NC residents will be replaced in college by illegal aliens if this makes it into law, Gheen says. ‘The cost will be phenomenal since taxpayers pay an average subsidy of $7,500 per year per in-state student. El Pueblo and their lobbyist should not be using taxpayer monies to lobby lawmakers for more taxpayer monies that would deprive many of our legal citizens from a college education.
