An immigration enforcement activist says there are several ways Donald Trump can get Mexicans to pay for his border wall.
On Friday, President-elect Donald Trump tweeted that Mexico will reimburse American taxpayers for a new border wall. But for the "sake of speed," he intends to ask Congress to allocate U.S. funds for the wall, relying on existing law that authorizes fencing and other technology along the southern border.
"If Trump is saying he may spend some U.S. taxpayer dollars on the initial part of building the wall, that's fine, because right now there is an unprecedented flood of illegal immigrants coming across the border, as the Obama administration is doing all it can to flood our country with as many illegals as he can before he leaves," comments William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC. "And whatever Donald Trump has to spend, we're for it."
And Gheen asserts there are several ways the government can be reimbursed.
"We could simply stop giving Mexico over $200 million in foreign aid per year and suspend China's $25 million in foreign aid; use those funds on the wall and fences to keep illegals from both countries from crossing our border, because China is invading us with illegal aliens, as well as Mexico," the ALIPAC president points out.
And Trump says another option is to pay with confiscated drug money.
"According to the Government Accountability Office (the GAO), the Border Patrol seizes about $32.5 million in drug money trying to leave the United States each year," Gheen reports, adding that the incoming president could easily use those funds to help pay for the wall.
