HAZLETON – The organizers of a rally planned for Sunday at City Hall and Memorial Park in support of Mayor Lou Barletta, the city’s Illegal Immigration Relief Act and national immigration reform are having a public meeting today to finalize preparations.
Dan Smeriglio, founder of Voice of the People and rally organizer, said a multitude of guest speakers are scheduled for the rally, including Barletta, Joey Vento of Geno’s Steaks in Philadelphia and representatives from several national immigration reform organizations.
Smeriglio, 24, of Hazleton, is trying his best to get the word out, and he said he could use help from people willing to post fliers in their hometowns.
A meeting for anyone interested in helping is planned for 6 p.m. today at Mary’s Café in Hazle Township.
