AMERICANS FRET ABOUT MYSTERY VIRUS AND ILLEGAL KIDS

Limbaugh: Is illness tied to Obama's release of immigrant children all over U.S.?

    09/09/2014
    CHELSEA SCHILLING

Just weeks after the Obama administration let more than 37,000 illegal-alien children into the U.S. without health screening, more than 1,000 kids across 10 states have been stricken with a respiratory virus – prompting widespread concerns about a major outbreak sweeping across the nation.

On his Monday show, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh explored the possibility of a link between the flood of illegal aliens and the spread of a severe and rare respiratory virus known as Enterovirus D68, or EV-D68.

“Obama will not tell anybody where all of the children that have crossed the border in the last four months have been relocated to,” Limbaugh said.

“There are a bunch of people who want to know. We had these kids cross the border from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, wherever they came from in Central America, and they were processed real quickly. They were gotten in, gotten out, and they’ve been distributed all over the country. And Obama won’t tell anybody where he put ‘em. … The regime will not announce where they are.”

Limbaugh asked, “Are the two stories related or are they not? Does this sweeping, mysterious virus that’s multiplying across the Midwest, does it have anything to do with it or not? We don’t know. That’s the answer. We just don’t know. But some people think there may be some kind of a connection.”

Another talk-radio giant, Michael Savage, blasted Obama for releasing the illegal-alien children in all 50 states: “This population in America, which once enjoyed the greatest health on earth, is now being devolved into a second-world nation in terms of health because Obama is so corrupt, was so ignorant, was so evil that he’s taken what was once the greatest nation on earth and devolving us into a second nation status.”

Savage, who earned a doctorate in epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley, declared on his show Monday, “For 20 years, I’ve been trying to warn America about the unscreened immigrants being brought in. Now, of course, it’s coming home to roost and the American people are being lied to by the Centers for Disease Transmission. They used to be the CDC; they’re now the CDT.

“Instead of stopping disease spread, they’re encouraging it by not speaking out against bringing in infected children and putting them in our public schools, right? It’s astounding to me what they can get away with because of the ignorance of the public. Common sense is gone. … What do you expect to happen if you put a kid with a certain virus into a school where they’ve never been exposed to that virus? It’s called an epidemic breakout.”

Listen to Savage’s comments on the issue Monday:

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement has released a state-by-state breakdown of 37,477 unaccompanied children released to sponsors across America.
Five states where the federal government released the most children include:
    Texas: 5,280 children
    New York: 4,244 children
    California: 3,909
    Florida: 3,809
    Virginia: 2,856
The states currently impacted by the outbreak include Missouri, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and Oklahoma – states that have received some of the smallest numbers of illegal-alien minors under the program.

The following map illustrates the virus outbreak in the Midwest and the number of children each state has accepted:

Enterovirus outbreak in U.S. states and unaccompanied illegal-alien children released to sponsors in each state (WND illustration)

Benjamin N. Haynes, CDC senior spokesman for the infectious disease team, told WND there’s “no connection” between the virus outbreak and the Obama administration’s relocation of illegal aliens across America who have come across the U.S.-Mexico border.

On his show, Savage also excoriated the government agency, stating, “The CDC is claiming they don’t know why this rhinovirus is suddenly breaking out in your area. … Don’t you think it would be rational to say, ‘Wait a minute. Let’s look at these clusters to see if these kids are in schools where Obama dumped illegal aliens? You know that the government will not release the schools or the districts when they move these kids from Guatemala into this country? They won’t even disclose where they are?”

On Monday, the CDC named two hospitals that have been treating patients examined and hospitalized with severe respiratory illness:

    • Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri (EV-D68 was identified in 19 of 22 specimens)
    • University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital in Illinois(EV-D68 was identified in 11 of 14 specimens)

A third hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado, confirmed that 19 of 25 samples were confirmed to be EV-D68. According to the Denver Post, hospital officials say they’ve treated more than 900 children for severe respiratory illness.

WND also contacted each of the three hospitals, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to ask whether any of the patients had been part of the illegal-alien refugee resettlement program but hadn’t received a response at the time of this report.

Symptoms of the virus are similar to those of the common cold and include coughing, difficulty breathing, rash and sometimes fever or wheezing. The CDC says there are no available vaccines or specific treatments for the virus, which isn’t typically fatal. Most children recover from it in about a week, though it can develop into a more serious illness – especially in patients with asthma.

In July, Savage warned of rampant spread of once-contained or eradicated diseases re-entering the U.S. through the latest flood of illegal aliens.

“Right now, you’re not going to hear this, but we have Tuberculosis, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, Chagas disease – previously eradicated from Southern California – on the rise and testing positive in … Border Patrol agents,” Savage said.

Other diseases emerging among Border Patrol agents, he said, include H1N1 Swine flu and chicken pox.

“The Border Patrol is being threatened with lawsuits and firing if they disclose this,” he said. “Congressmen are being turned away from the border as they go to investigate this surge of infected illegal aliens being thrown across the border at us.”
Speaking to his critics, Savage pointed to his academic qualifications.

“It’s easy for you to say I’m simply an alarmist or a racist, I’m a this-ist or a that-ist,” he said. “Well you’ve got it all wrong. The only ‘ist’ I am is an epidemiologist. I am not a racist. I am not an alarmist. I am an epidemiologist by training.”

In her June 17, 2014, WND column, Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet warned that illegal aliens crossing the U.S.-Mexico border were carrying the diseases and cited her experience working on medical projects in Central and South America since 2009.

“A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming,” Dr. Vliet wrote. “Hardest hit by exposures to these difficult-to-treat diseases will be elderly, children, immunosuppressed cancer-patients, patients with chronic lung disease or congestive heart failure.”

She also warned, “Vaccine-preventable diseases like chicken pox, measles and whooping cough spread like wildfire among unvaccinated children. Other illnesses, along with scabies and head lice, also thrive as children are transported by bus and herded into crowded shelters – courtesy of the federal government. Treatment costs are borne by taxpayers.”

WND also reported in August when an agent stationed at the McAllen, Texas, Border Patrol station told a radio host that diseases carried by illegal aliens crossing the Rio Grande are “slipping through the cracks” and will soon begin affecting the entire nation, possibly even “coming to your town.”

Thirteen-year Border Patrol veteran Chris Cabrera is also vice president of the Local 3307 chapter of the National Border Patrol Council, the exclusive representative of approximately 17,000 agents and support personnel assigned to the U.S. Border Patrol.

Cabrera was appearing “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” on New York’s AM 970 The Answer, when Klein asked the Border Patrol vet if the recent surge of illegal immigrants – both unaccompanied minors and adults – were being fully screened for disease by doctors before being released into the wider U.S. population.

“It’s not always the ideal medical care,” Cabrera confessed, “and a lot of it is slipping through the cracks. … We’re not set up for this, and we’re inviting more problems. The thing is, these [illegal immigrants] aren’t staying down here in the border region. This problem isn’t contained in the border areas. [They] are coming in here, they’re going north, and it’s going to affect the entire country. It’s going to affect the New Yorks, the Washington, D.C.s, the Chicago, the Dallas, even the Kansas, the Iowa, that’s where they’re headed, and that’s where it’s headed.”

Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., a 30-year practicing physician, also raised the issue in June and said the threat posed to American families is very real.

“There is a logistical nightmare these scarce diseases impose on the medical community,” he told WND. “The White House must stop neglecting the consequences of its reckless, open-border policies and protect the health and safety of our citizens – not to mention the security of our nation.”

In June, Dr. Jane Orient, an internal medicine specialist and the executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said, “This really should not be a political issue, but rather a public health and humanitarian issue. We already have overburdened emergency rooms, we already have a serious shortage of intravenous solutions for rehydrating people, so, you know, when you’re importing, say, up to 100,000 people who are susceptible to something like [tuberculosis or norovirus], it affects not only those children but anyone they come in contact with.”

She added, “We could very easily have a big public health catastrophe. This could really put a huge burden on our public health facilities as well as just our emergency rooms for treating common diseases.”

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease Sweeping The Nation

Even though it's the middle of summer, a particularly aggressive virus is attacking communities all across America. Almost all its victims are kids. It's the coxsackie virus, also known as Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. This is NOT to be confused with Mad Cow disease or Foot and Mouth disease, which are different.

Coxsackie virus is one of the few viruses that's common in the summer. It's highly contagious.

The good news is it usually clears-up on its own within 10 days, often sooner, with no lasting complications. But the bad news is its victims are in a great deal of discomfort while it's working it's running its course.

CBN News Internet producer Sarah knows about this first hand. Her 15-month-old Jay is recovering from the Coxsackie virus now. She said her first clue was his high fever and fussiness that kept him up in the middle of the night.

"He was inconsolable, which is not like him," she said. "Sometimes he's fussy from teething, but this was not the usually fussiness."

Then came the tell-tale rash a day later. As the virus' nickname implies, the rash is usually most noticeable on the hands, feet , including the soles, around the mouth and down the throat. As you might imagine, it's itchy and painful, making children climb the walls. Other areas such as the buttocks and genitals may be involved. Some kids deal with it in their eyes.

"At first I noticed his lips were unusually red," Sarah recalled of the first day with the fever. "Then the blisters showed up all over his lips, on his hands, and down his legs the next day."

Sarah couldn't imagine how her son picked-up the virus.

"I didn't take him anywhere. He mostly stays at home. He's not around a whole lot of kids," she said.

Then she remembered taking Jay to the doctor for his 15-month check-up a few days earlier. She now believes Jay probably picked up the virus doctor's office, since Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is very contagious.

Most doctors will recommend parents give their child with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce the fever and discomfort. Mouthwashes and sprays may lessen the oral irritation. Fluids are also suggested to prevent dehydration. For more information about Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, the Centers For Disease Control has a whole web page devoted to it.

However, acidic juices may irritate the mouth ulcers. Cold milk may sooth the oral discomfort. Sarah gave Jay lots of milk, which he gladly preferred above anything else.

Some physicians also recommend Benadryl to treat the itching. And tepid oatmeal baths and oatmeal lotion (Aveeno) can help soothe the skin irritation. All those treatments worked for little Jay, and then the moment of peace....when after all that anguish, he finally fell asleep!

Prevention of coxsackie virus infections is nearly impossible because it requires children to be extremely hygienic. Regularly cleaning items they contact, especially toys, pacifiers, and any items they may place in their mouths, may help. Hand washing, as usual, is the best prevention technique. Currently there's no vaccine for it.

Pregnant women should avoid contact with children (or adults) with Hand, Food and Mouth Disease, because some studies suggest that coxsackie virus may cause developmental and other defects in the fetus.

Hand, foot and mouth disease reported in area schools

    UPDATED 8:40 PM EDT Sep 08, 2014

    VIDEO REOPRT AT LINK:

PITTSBURGH —Several area schools have reported cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. The virus causes blisters and fever and often strikes children who are in day care and elementary school.

    VIDEO: Watch Shannon Perrine's report

Hand, foot and mouth disease often is troubling for parents to hear about. But Allegheny County Health Department medical epidemiologist Dr. Kristen Mertz said it is a relatively mild virus.

“Sometimes we see it in elementary schools,” said Mertz. “But it is more common in little kids. They tend to eat each other's toys or get their saliva all over toys.”

Marc DeHart is a parent in Pine Township. He has heard about the cases of hand, foot, and mouth.

“One: I don't want it around my kids,” said DeHart, “And two: It's just an important reminder to wash and sanitize.”

Sherri Spagnolli is a mother of elementary-age children, and she is also a nurse. She has seen several cases where she works. She understands parents’ concerns.

“Sure. But it's very common,” said Spagnolli. “And you can literally catch it from a shopping cart or toys at a playground, and for the most part, harmless.”

Mertz said the best way to prevent hand, foot and mouth is to simply wash your hands frequently.

The Albert Gallatin School District, in Fayette County, has seen no confirmed cases of the virus. But the district is sending a letter home to parents warning them of the virus and encouraging good hygiene.

Alabama children are latest believed to be hit by rare respiratory virus

    By Mike Oliver
    on September 08, 2014 at 6:38 PM,

Dr. David Kimberlin talks about virus today at Children's of Alabama. (Mike Oliver/photo)

The unusual spread of a relatively rare respiratory virus that has sent hundreds of children to hospitals in about a dozen states is believed to be in Alabama – although tests have not yet confirmed that.

A top infectious disease expert at the University of Alabama at Birmingham said today he believes it is likely that Enterovirus 68 is at least partially responsible for a surge in respiratory illnesses seen at UAB and Children's of Alabama since about mid-to-late August.

Especially hard-hit have been Colorado, Kansas City and the Chicago areas but other states, including Georgia, have reported the virus which can be much like the common cold. However, in some cases, it can cause difficulty breathing and can severely aggravate asthma. It usually strikes children -- babies on up to those in their late teens -- but it can hit adults too, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

"So here in the Birmingham area we in our molecular diagnostic laboratory ... have been looking for Enterovirus 68 in particular," said Dr. David Kimberlin, co-director of the UAB Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children's.
They haven't confirmed a case yet but the sample size has been small and they are awaiting results of a higher level of testing, Kimberlin said.

Kimberlin said doctors in the emergency department, inpatient physicians taking care of children being admitted and doctors in the intensive unit have all noticed a "significant" upswing in patients.

"Since the latter part of August all have noticed an increase in volume of patients being admitted with respiratory illnesses."
"To my knowledge all of those children have done fine," Kimberlin said.

Today the CDC had a press briefing on the topic.

"Hospitalizations are higher than would be expected at this time of year," Dr. Anne Schuchat, head of infectious diseases for CDC said, as quoted by National Public Radio. "The situation is evolving quickly."

The CDC said that in August, health officials in Illinois and Missouri reported a surge in emergency room visits for severe respiratory illnesses in Chicago and Kansas City. No one has been known to have died, NPR reported.
    What should parents watch for?

"Enteroviruses are very common causes of summertime colds," Kimberlin said. "So when you have a cold between June and October, many times it is an Enterovirus that has caused that.

"The difference here is that this particular strain, Enterovirus 68, seems to be more pathogenic, more aggressive, more likely to cause severe infection," Kimberlin said.

"It can cause mild cold symptoms but on the other hand it can cause more severe respiratory symptoms such as heavy breathing; a lot of wheezing is associated with this."

Parents should watch for children having difficulty catching their breath or wheezing, especially when the child doesn't usually have attacks of wheezing.

The best prevention? Just like cold and flu advice – wash your hands and stay away, if possible, from large crowds and enclosed areas where other infected individuals may be.

Although there is no vaccine or treatment cure -- just like with the common cold -- Kimberlin said Children's hospitals, including the one in Birmingham, are well equipped to treat the severe cases of the virus.

"There is the potential for serious illness, but it is quite possible that a child will have just a common cold from it," Kimberlin said.

"This is a virus we've known about for 52 years so it's not a new virus," he said. "It's caused outbreaks before but they've been smaller and more isolated kind of outbreaks.

These diseases came from across the border. The US Border Patrol was given a gag order to stand down. TB,Scabies,Lice was found upon their arrival. The Obama,Administration and his criminals in Homeland Insecurity knew all along.

Why are we surprised? When it comes to the general health and welfare of our citizens, we are at the bottom of the barrel again.

The white house will not release the location of the children that came here this summer from S. America because that would enable Americans to discover why this virus is spreading throughout our schools. These children were sick when they arrived which was reported and now our children are paying the price for this transparent government.

Border Patrol Agents Brought Home Diseases to their Children

August 1, 2014 by Daniel Greenfield 16 Comments

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is a New York writer focusing on radical Islam. He is completing a book on the international challenges America faces in the 21st century.

This is America under Obama. At this rate we may be headed for a real public health crisis.
In its first report since the surge, the inspector general said agents have contracted everything from scabies and lice to chickenpox, including bringing the disease home to their own children, as they care for the unaccompanied minors. Investigators also said they saw instances of agents and officers spending their own money to buy toys, clothing and food for children and families.

The details are already ugly because if family members contract diseases, then those children are likely to spread them to other American children.
“Many UAC and family units require treatment for communicable diseases, including respiratory illnesses, tuberculosis, chicken pox, and scabies,” the IG report said.

    And…
According to the border region health care officials, hospitals have diagnosed persons with infectious diarrhea, multi-drug resistant tuberculosis, scabies, chickenpox and sexually transmitted diseases. There also have been reports from Border Patrol of MRSA staph infections.

Department of Health and Human Services spokesman Kenneth Wolfe also confirmed that an unaccompanied child was hospitalized after being diagnosed with the H1N1 influenza virus, more commonly known as swine flu.

Swine flu. I wonder whose DREAM that is.

Look at this picture below and tell me that America's immigration policies are not inherently racist. Where are the Whites, the Europeans? Policies that overwhelmingly favor one ethnic population, we have been told are inherently racist--except when it the group being screwed over are whites. Then it is perfectly O.K. Just look at Affirmative Action laws and quotas.

I would like to see patriots expose the anti-European racism that plays a major role in how current immigration policies are implemented.

And another thing, Europeans, even when illegally here, are not bringing with them a plethora of diseases that Americans were not previously exposed to.

That these scum would jeopardize the health of America's children for their political agenda is perverted beyond comprehension. When are we going to rise up and not be silent, nor go home, nor obey every jot and tittle of every petty law and drive these scum from power? What does it take for patriots to get mean, stubborn, uncompromising to stop the immigration disaster once and for all? HOW MUCH PATRIOTS? HOW MUCH?

When your family are afflicted with leprosy? When they are dying from incurable tuberculosis? Will you take it seriously then?

Why does ALIPAC always have to go begging for a few $$ from people who should be throwing more money at them then they can find places to spend it?

Either you take the survival of our country and its society seriously or you do not.

Where these illegal alien kids were 'released' is not always where they wind up staying.
I still believe we haven't reached the tip of the iceberg yet in regards to disease and sickness brought here by illegal aliens. Someday the obamas, pelosi's, reid's and jarret's who reside in Washington DC won't be so isolated from the real world like they are now. Perhaps they, too will be exposed to the same kind of filth and nastiness brought here by their little pets from Central and South America.
