Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake on Monday voiced opposition to sending illegal immigrants to liberal cities as Texas and Arizona send busloads of migrants to New York City and Washington, D.C.
Republican Govs. Greg Abbott, R-TX, and Doug Ducey, R-AZ, have recently sent busloads of illegal immigrants to liberal cities in a bid to raise awareness about the ongoing migration crisis at the southern border.
"I'm not a fan of busing illegal immigrants to cities around this country," Lake said on the "Just the News, Not Noise" television show. "It makes for a great photo op. And sure, it opens up a few eyeballs to our problems.
But in the end, you're just trafficking illegals, and you're moving them further into the country making it harder to get them out. And that's not what we're going to do here in Arizona."
Lake went on to assert that, should she become governor, she would move to deport illegal immigrants outright.
"We're actually going to stop them from coming across the border," Lake stated. "When we catch them, we're sending them back. I'm okay with loading up buses and sending them back to the border. But we will not allow people who come across this border illegally to remain."
Fresh off of her primary win last Tuesday, Lake also discussed the media's efforts to ignore her campaign, asserting her victory signaled that traditional outlets are losing relevance.
"I won this without the corporate media, they didn't cover me unless it was a hit piece," Lake said. "They didn't cover me. Fox had me on once in prime time, in the last year and a half. And I've been the number one candidate from the beginning. And the only time they had me on was to do a hit piece."
"The beauty of it is we won. We won in a decisive victory without them, and it shows how ineffective and irrelevant they are now, they can keep spreading lies, but no one's listening to them," she concluded.
