LEXINGTON -- A man wanted since 2009 finally faced a charge that he sexually assaulted a minor.
Wilfredo Lorenzo-Ordonez pleaded guilty Thursday in Dawson County Court to first-degree sexual
assault, a Class III felony, before District Judge James E. Doyle. Doyle ordered a presentence
investigation by the state probation office and set sentencing for Oct. 7.

Lorenzo-Ordonez was 19 when he allegedly assaulted a girl on Aug. 17, 2009.

The girl's mother reported the offense to Lexington police, and he was arrested. He was held under a
bond of $100,000.

During the ensuing months, trial dates were set four times, but were delayed to enable defense
attorneys to gather statements. His bond was reduced, but was then revoked when he failed to appear
for a hearing on April 2, 2010.

A warrant was issued for his arrest. Not until April 13, 2013, were local law enforcement agencies
notified that Lorenzo-Ordonez was being held in a jail in Texas on the Nebraska warrant.

Lorenzo-Ordonez was originally charged with a Class II felony, which calls for a prison term of one to
50 years. As part of a plea bargain, the charge was reduced to a Class III felony, and he could be
sentenced from one to 20 years in prison.
