Readers respond to Arizona's strict new anti-illegal immigration law

On Tuesday, Arizona lawmakers passed SB 1070, the toughest state anti-immigration act in the country.

The bill makes it a misdemeanor to lack proper immigration paperwork in Arizona.

    Thanks. Good stuff!
There are plenty all across the country that refuse to differentiate between legal immigrant and illegal alien. Until that gets straightened out, we are all talking about two different categories of foreigners in this country. Freedom of speech also carries a responsibility with it to agree on language, rather than the twisting of terms to mean something other than what the original reference.

Someone listed successful legal immigrants and their contributions. Now I would like to see them make the list for contributions made by illegals. From South Florida I can say:

    MS-13 and other Hispanic gangs
Zoe Pound, East Side Boyz and other Haitian gangs
An increase in the amount of hit and run accidents where vicitms are seriously injured or killed
A good percentage of the inmate population in our county and state prisons. The Broward County Jail averages between 32 and 36 illegals incarcerated a month and Collier County would be between 32 and 40 a month. Miami Dade would be higher but I have not been able to get those numbers.
Jackson Health going bankrupt in fact 1/3 of their uninsured kidney dialysis patients were illegals and other treating others for other things.
