14 working at PBIA arrested on immigration violations

Fourteen men digging a ditch at Palm Beach International Airport were rounded up after admitting they were in the country illegally, a federal spokesman said.

A supervisor for U.S. Customs and Border Protection came across the crew and challenged them because they had no airport identification, spokesman Luis Diaz said from Miami.


In fact, Diaz said, "They didn't have any ID on them."

He said the men admitted their undocumented status and were detained.

Diaz could not immediately say who hired the men or how or their ages or countries of origin.

He said the men were still being processed and interviewed at midday.

An airport spokeswoman could not immediately be reached.

And if we get on a plane we are subjected to having everything searched! In some cases you get "special treatment", meaning you get to have your carry-ons puse shoes and body searched! Yet here these men have free access to the ctual plane?

Great job CBP, lousy job PBIA...

Anything an illegal aliens can do, so can terrorists.

At least Immigration is still doing enforcement at airports; I hope that it continues into construction, restaurants, etc for 2009.
