OPINION: Enforce Current U.S. Immigration Laws

Mr. Navarrette is NOT listening to "We the People."

The American people do not want blanket immigration reform to allow every single illegal alien in this country to be given a free pass to citizenship!

The people rejected this scheme years ago when Sens. McCain and Kennedy tried it.

The American people did not want it then, and do not want it now!

There are no jobs currently available for American workers, let alone for illegal aliens!

Let's start with the necessities.

First, secure the borders!

Then immediately start enforcing all of the current U.S. immigration laws in regard to employers hiring, deportation of all criminal illegal aliens, and removing any and all tax revenues from any city in any state that offers sanctuary to illegal aliens. Then prosecute any city and/or state officials who endorse breaking the laws! No more day labor centers; it is illegal to hire illegal aliens and they should be fully prosecuted!

Next, get rid of the Department of Homeland Security; it is a joke, and a waste of taxpayers' money.

It is ineffectual, incompetent, and unable to properly protect our nation. Let the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department do its job.

ICE should not have to answer to the DHS, but instead answer to the Department of Defense.

Put the Defense Department in charge of our borders. Congress took an oath to protect and secure our borders from invaders both foreign and domestic.

It is high time Congress started doing its job, or get voted out in November.

Stand up for America and all law-abiding, hardworking, tax-paying Americans across our republic!

Very good Ideas here.... I also think that we should put the military on the border. There are way too many dangerous criminals jumping our borders and In many cases KILLING Innocent Americans. This Insanity has to stop ...
