Arrests of Illegal Aliens Have Dropped Precipitously Under the Biden Administration

According to a new report by the Washington Times, the Biden administration has substantially slashed the number of illegal alien arrests that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) typically carries out.

Due to the Biden administration’s “sanctuary country” orders implemented in February, there have been 75% fewer “priority” arrests, and arrests the administration deems “non-priority” have been cut by over 80% compared to the same time frame in 2020.

John Binder of Breitbart Newsdetailed some of the reductions in illegal alien arrests:

Specifically, those “non-priority” arrests of illegal aliens by ICE have been cut from 17,810 at the beginning of 2020 to just 3,306 arrests in the first seven weeks of the Biden administration.

In the case of violent illegal aliens, Binder also listed off some truly remarkable declines in arrests:

  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with homicide cut by 17 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with sexual assault cut by 22 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with burglary cut by 60 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with drunk driving cut by 71 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens considered security threats cut by 42 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with immigration crimes cut by 54 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with kidnapping cut by 40 percent
  • Arrests of illegal aliens charged with gun crimes cut by 30 percent

“The Biden [administration’s] immigration policies are undoubtedly endangering Americans,” Jon Feere, a former ICE official, declared in a tweet.

Furthermore, the number of illegal aliens in ICE custody has been sharply slashed.

Binder went into more detail about the number of illegal aliens currently in ICE custody:

Data collected from January 21 to March 31 shows that the number of illegal aliens in ICE custody has dropped by 70 percent since 2019. Today, there are less than 14,000 illegal aliens in ICE custody — the lowest level in the agency’s history — compared to May 2019 when nearly 50,000 illegal aliens were in the custody of ICE.

Binder continued, detailing the profile of illegal aliens actually in ICE custody:

Of the less than 14,000 illegal aliens in ICE custody today, more than 5,100 are convicted criminals and 919 others have pending criminal charges against them, indicating a 70 percent and 84 percent reduction in the number of criminal illegal aliens in ICE custody.

Back in February, DHS officials rolled out sanctuary country policies that impede ICE agents’ ability to arrest and deport about 90% of illegal aliens who would be deported under normal circumstances.

As Binder noted, “These policies require that ICE agents only prioritize arrest and deportation for illegal aliens who have been recently convicted of aggravated felonies or are terrorists or known gang members.”

Consequently, illegal aliens with felony convictions are now being let loose into American communities.

Due to these dangerous interior immigration (non)enforcement policies, states such as Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Montana, and Texas have started to file lawsuits against the Biden administration. These states contend that the Biden administration is breaking federal immigration law by providing sanctuary to the overwhelming majority of illegal aliens in the U.S.

According to a 2018 study published by Mohammad M. Fazel-Zarandi, a researcher at Yale and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, rough estimates of the number of illegal aliens in the US are approximately 22 million, double the traditionally reported estimate of 11 million.

The ascendant woke coalition, in which the cultural Left formed an unholy alliance with Big Business, is itching for mass amnesty and the establishment of perpetually open borders. One side (Democrats and their leftist partners) gets cheap votes, while the other (Big Business) gets cheap labor.

A proper nationalist response should be to close the borders, the only way the Right can throw a major wrench into the post-national Left’s sinister plans.
