The Tucson Sector Border patrol has arrested six undocumented immigrants in the last 24-hours, but the suspects were a lot further from home than agents are used to seeing.
On Wednesday, officers assigned to the Nogales Station apprehended four Chinese nationals on the west side of Nogales.
According to a Border Patrol report, the officers were on city patrol and checking on staging sites frequently used by undocumented immigrants, when they encountered the four suspects.
They were taken into custody and transported to the Nogales Border Patrol Station for processing.
In another incident early Thursday morning, officers intercepted two individuals crossing the international border into Nogales illegally.
According to Border Patrol officers, the individuals were also found to be citizens of China.
Both suspects were transported to the Nogales Border Patrol station for processing.
"Our focus is on Border Security," said Division Chief John M. Fitzpatrick. "It is critical that we approach our mission from an 'all-threats' perspective. We must do all we can to positively identify every person attempting to enter this country, regardless of where they are coming from."
