Statement issued by the US Border Patrol:

Casa Grande, Arizona – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Casa Grande Station seized 301 pounds of marijuana Monday, with an estimated street value of $240,800, after following tracks of a vehicle that had illegally entered the United States by ramping over the International Boundary fence.

Agents followed the tracks which led them to an unoccupied Ford F-150 pick-up truck parked at a nearby residence.

Inside the truck, agents discovered numerous bundles of marijuana in a hidden compartment.

The marijuana and the vehicle were seized and transported to the Casa Grande Station for processing.

The Border Patrol's effectiveness in impeding the flow of marijuana into the United States has forced smugglers to use more creative smuggling methods.

Infrastructure, such as the border fence, prevents vehicles from easily driving across the border.

As a result, smugglers are designing and using ramps with greater frequency in an attempt to circumvent border improvements.
