Yavapai County deputies stopped a van full of illegal immigrants Sunday morning and found forged identification documents, authorities said.
A deputy originally stopped the van because it was impeding traffic, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office said. When he approached the vehicle, he saw several people crouched down inside, and some passengers were sitting on others' laps due to lack of space, authorities said.
There were 11 people crammed into the van, deputies said.
The driver produced a fake Mexican driver's license that deputies later discovered was purchased in Phoenix for $50, authorities said.
Another passenger possessed a fake Social Security card and Ohio identification card, deputies said.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement confirmed the passengers were in the country illegally, deputies said. The immigrants are being held in Yavapai County.
