A sweep targeting gang members resulted in the arrest of 21 people Tuesday morning, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The operation started about 6 a.m. and focused on people on probation or parole who are members of criminal street gangs or associated with them. Seventeen people were arrested on suspicion of felonies including narcotics violations, violating the terms of parole and probation violations and arrest warrants, the Sheriff’s Department said. Four more were arrested on suspicion of misdemeanors, including being under the influence of drugs and resisting arrest, and for outstanding warrants.
Helping out deputies were members of the North County Gang Task Force, U.S. Marshals, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the county’s fugitive task force, state parole and county probation.
