A Mexican citizen has been sentenced to more than nine years in prison for illegally re-entering the United States after being deported and for violating three separate terms of supervised release.

Prosecutors say 40-year-old Jose Luis Lopez-Vasquez of Sonora was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Phoenix to 109 months in prison.

Lopez-Vasquez pleaded guilty in June to a single-count indictment charging him with illegal re-entry after prior deportation.

Authorities say he was deported from the United States to Mexico through Laredo, Texas in April 2008 and was caught in the U.S. again on December 1, 2008.

Prosecutors say Lopez-Vasquez has a long criminal history with burglary, drug and weapons convictions in Arizona and Texas from 1987-2005.

What really irritates me is that our taxpayer dollars are going to provide this man a comfy life he doesn't have to work for.
