Apparently 14 people were inside the apartment

PHOENIX -- A mother and two young children were among more than a dozen people taken from an apparent drop house in Phoenix Friday night.

According to police at the scene, a passerby saw people climbing from a window in the back of an apartment near 20th Street and Indian School Road about 5:45 p.m.

Police said that when officers arrived they found 14 people in a small apartment. Three had run from the apartment but were taken into custody nearby.

Three people have been arrested as possible smugglers and 11 others have been detained, according to police.

No other details were made available Friday night.
