Five people are in custody after Pima County Sheriff’s deputies discovered an illegal immigrant drop house on the northwest side.

At least five illegal immigrants were being held in a home in the 3400 block of West Green Trees Drive, near West Ina Road and North Camino de la Tierra, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.

Deputies were called to the home around 10 a.m. Wednesday after receiving 911 calls that people being held at the home had escaped and were seeking help from people in neighboring homes, Barkman said.

One of the five people being held was treated for minor injuries, she said.

A search of the area caused a temporary lockdown of Richardson Elementary School, which is across the street from the home, Barkman said.

All of the victims and all of the suspects are believed to be Mexican nationals, she said.
