U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake has addressed border wall security and the futures of young immigrants in the country with a compromise bill he introduced Thursday.

The Arizona Republican’s proposed legislation — the Border Security and Deferred Action Recipient Relief Act — would provide $1.6 billion in funding for border fortification and would give conditional resident status to DACA recipients and other children.

The other undocumented children have to have been living in the United States “continuously since 2012.”

The conditional status would last for 10 years if they meet certain education or employment terms. A green card could come later, as could citizenship.

“President Trump, both parties in Congress, and a majority of the nation all agree on the need for a stronger, more secure border; fair and permanent protections for DACA recipients; and the swift deportation of gang and cartel members who threaten our safety,” Flake said in a statement.

His bill arrived the same day of the deadline for young immigrants to renew their DACA status. The deferred-action program, which protects tens of thousands of “Dreamers” from deportation, was rescinded by the Trump Administration in September.

The programs ends in March.

The DACA portion also stipulates that recipients also must be “pursuing vocational or higher education, enlisted in the military, or are gainfully employed. … maintaining “good moral character,” … maintaining consistent residence in the United States for a period of ten years; and either completing their three years of military service or receiving an honorable discharge, completing their vocational or higher education, or maintaining gainful employment for four of the proceeding five years.”

Trump has said he wants Congress to come up with a solution that would “legalize DACA.”

He met with Democrats last month to move closer to a DACA deal. No agreement has been made.

This week, he met with Republican leadership.
Trump and Flake have publicly butted heads over some issues, but Arizona’s junior senator has overwhelmingly voted in agreement with the president’s position.

Parts of the bill have already passed the House with bipartisan support, including border fortification, new access roads for Border Patrol and a provision designed to deport gang members and anyone in a cartel.

Another extortion bill from another stupid Republican member of the US Senate. DO NOT EXTORT American border and national security with some uncalled for, unnecessary, unjust amnesty for illegal aliens. We don't want them holding jobs or going to college, stealing livelihoods, wages, economic security, seats in colleges and all the opportunities those seats mean from Young Americans any more than we want their rotten illegal aliens parents who supposedly brought here stealing jobs, wages from American Workers and welfare from American Taxpayers.

What is it about this blazing stupidity and emboldened betrayal against American citizens do these morons not understand? Do they not understand that when you tie national security to some absurd benefit to illegal immigration you are feeding the very beast that threatens our own national and individual survival to begin with??!! Why not make a deal with ISIS, you all come here and we'll give you everything you want. Heck, we'll even let you take over our military, if you promise not to blow us up, how about that?!!!

This is really getting out of hand..this is obama's reason for being in office - "been here since 2012"! The border has been wide open for more than a decade. These jerks are really trying to bring to fruition the demon plan. Notice "daca recipients and OTHER CHILDREN". Is that all the central americans UACs too and all the millions of mexicans that can't certify the criteria for daca - sure enough is all of them. Notice how all the border crossers are young? Of course, that was the plan for letting them in started by gw continued by obama.

Flake is repugnant! Arizona, land of the BIG CROSSING right thru our wildlife sanctuaries non stop - no border agents allowed there - how convenient. Ii our federal gov't and the state of Arizona, its politicians wanted to, they would have found a way to stop it. They choose not to - this overtaking, replacing of Americans was all planned.

There is no acceptable compromise on amnesty for illegal aliens. The representatives for foreign citizens in our United States Congress need to be removed by voters.
