Babeu: Obama Achieving ‘De Facto Amnesty’ by ‘Handcuffing’ Border Patrol

Tuesday at a press conference, Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, AZ said the Obama administration was achieving a “de facto amnesty” by not hiring new border agents, not assigning agents to high traffic areas, allowing captured illegal immigrants to be released with only a notice to appear, and having administration officials dismiss the concerns of the border agents who disagree with the policy.

Babeu said, “Traffic for illegals is up in the first four months of this fiscal year by 25 percent. You see a 102 percent increase of unaccompanied juveniles. A 102 percent increase in the first four months in this fiscal year, and we are up 170 percent of families that are together, and so at a time when we see a rapid rise in the actual numbers crossing this border, and you can make any justification of why that’s happening, what we see from this administration, from the Obama administration is an actual reduction at a time we should be providing more support to secure our border. And we have seen 1500 border patrol agents that are mandated by Congress that are not being hired and we see a submission of another 300 border patrol agents that are being cut. That is approaching almost 10% of our border patrol that is not being added, that is not on our border protecting guarding and defending America.”

He continued, “This administration literally has handcuffed them from doing their job. They have a leader in Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske who says that if they don’t agree, if our heroes in the border patrol don’t agree with the Obama administration and this lawlessness that is happening, that they can go find another job.”

The sheriff said, “This is what is happening—that we are deliberately and intentionally, the leaders, those who are in charge of our border patrol haven’t been assigning to areas we know are high traffic areas.”

He added, “What’s happening now when an illegal is apprehend they are supposed to be given a promise to appear, a notice to appear and that’s not even happening. It could be 30, 60, 90 days at some point out, we already know, it’s proven that a majority of these individuals will never show up for their court hearing, so this is a complete sham. So the fact that the president is saying, well this is our process, basically it’s de facto amnesty because there is no consequence, no enforcement of the law and there is no tracking of where that person is.”

Obama Admin Handcuffed Border Patrol, Says Babeu

    by BOB PRICE
    8 Mar 2016

The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) and Pinal County Sheriff joined forces to denounce the Obama Administration and accused the White House of handcuffing the efforts of law enforcement in regards to the enforcement of immigration law.

“This administration has handcuffed the Border Patrol,” Babeu said, according to a Tweet from the NBPC.

Sheriff Babeu and the NBPC held a press conference in southern Arizona to make the charges against the White House and officials with the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday morning. The NBPC is the official union for Border Patrol agents and has been instrumental in getting out the truth about the administration’s policies.

National Border Patrol Labor Council President Brandon Judd told reporters, “We are either going to be a specialized law enforcement agency dedicated to enforcing our nation’s immigration laws or a political arm of the administration.”

Brandon Judd says Border Patrol is built to enforce the law. But administration appointees aren't built that way.

He reinforced the evidence that the Obama Administration has been bypassing Congress by taking illegal executive actions and forcing Border Patrol agents to not do their job of enforcing the law along the border. 3News in Phoenix reported that Judd said “the president is bypassing Congress by legislating through policy. These policies in essence are granting amnesty to thousands, if not millions, of persons who enter the country illegally.”

Sheriff Babeu told reporters the administration has politicized the enforcement of immigration laws. He said that high-traffic smuggling roust are understaffed intentionally and blamed the Obama Administration. The NBPC official agreed with his assessment.

The Arizona border sheriff released nubers on Tuesday showing the traffic of illegal immigrants in the first four months of this fiscal year is up by 25 percent. He said there’s been a 102 percent increase in unaccompanied juveniles.

These numbers were previously reported by Breitbart Texas late last month when officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service (CBP) released a report documenting the increase in the numbers of crossings of unaccompanied children (UAC) and incomplete family units. The agency released the report late on a Friday afternoon to avoid heavy media coverage.

Babeu accused the CBP commissioner and the administration of failed leadership and said they are failing to enforce the law.

Judd was more specific in his remarks and said, that “Commissioner K,” CBP Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske, had “raised the white flag of surrender by declaring a ‘new normal.’” He continued saying, “The Border Patrol is built to enforce the law. But administration appointees aren’t built that way.”

The NBPC president reiterated his previous statements that illegal immigrants from terrorist nations continue to cross the U.S. southern border.

Judd went on to accuse the president, stating Obama had, “manipulated the data, had agents assigned to low traffic areas and attempted to quiet dissent by calling those who question his approach as misinformed without offering an evidence to support these allegations.”

Sheriff Babeu summed it up in his conclusion, “What we see from this administration is an actual reduction at a time we should be providing more support to secure our border.”

Arizona Sheriff Can’t Take It Anymore, Spills Obama’s Dark Secret He Never Wanted Out

"This is a dangerous time to..."

President Obama is making life worse, not better, along Arizona’s border with Mexico, Pinal County, Az., Sheriff Paul Babeu said Tuesday.

“He has manipulated the data, had agents assigned to low traffic areas and attempted to quiet dissent by calling those who question his approach as misinformed without offering any evidence to support these allegations,” Babeu said.

A tweet from the Sheriff’s Office was to the point:

National Border Patrol Labor Council President Brandon Judd joined Babeu Tuesday.

“We are either going to be a specialized law enforcement agency dedicated to enforcing our nation’s immigration laws or a political arm of the administration,” Judd said.

“The president is bypassing Congress by legislating through policy. These policies in essence are granting amnesty to thousands, if not millions, of persons who enter the country illegally,” he said.

“What we see from this administration is an actual reduction at a time we should be providing more support to secure our border,” Babeu said, noting that illegal immigration is up 25 percent in the first four months of fiscal 2016, including a 102 percent increase in unaccompanied juveniles.

Babeu said 1,500 Border Patrol agents that are mandated by Congress “are not being hired and we see a submission of another 300 Border Patrol agents that are being cut. That’s approaching almost 10 percent of our Border Patrol that is not being added to guard and defend America.”

Babeu said rising terrorism threats make this a dangerous time to leave the border poorly guarded.

“This is a likely avenue of approach for them to come into our unsecure border,” Babeu said. “We should be putting every resource to the border. And instead of threatening the very people who are charged with protecting our country, securing the border, they should be finding ways to further support them.”
