CORPUS CHRISTI — U.S. Border Patrol agents recovered nearly $10 million worth of marijuana during weekend seizures in South Texas.

The biggest single confiscation took place Friday at the Falfurrias checkpoint, where a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the presence of drugs in a tractor-trailer during an immigration inspection, according to a news release. As they checked the trailer, agents found more than 6,700 pounds of marijuana, officials said.

The driver was arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations.

A number of smaller seizures brought the weekend’s total to more than 12,000 pounds across South Texas.
