LETTER: Obama to blame for creating DACA quandary

Obama deserves blame for DACA predicament

President Donald Trump was soundly criticized for not renewing President Barack Obama’s DACA executive order. However, there was little, if any, comment about the responsibility Obama bears for creating this tragic situation in the first place.

When Obama came into office in 2009, the immigration problem was well known, including the plight of the innocent children who were bought into the U.S. by their illegal immigrant parents. Although Obama’s party controlled both houses of Congress for two years, the problem was not addressed until the presidential election cycle in 2012. At that time there was a real possibility that Obama and other Democrats might not be re-elected. The prospect of hundreds of thousands of additional voters in the immigrant community was too great a temptation for Obama to resist.

Referring the matter of the children of illegal immigrants to Congress for appropriate legislative action would not have fit Obama’s election time frame. Obama had repeatedly stated in the past that he did not have the legal authority to issue legislation concerning this matter. Nevertheless, he issued DACA, considered by many legal experts to be unconstitutional and definite executive overreach. The promulgation of DACA touted only the benefits; “future possible deportation” were nasty little words that were never mentioned. The result was that hundreds of thousands of children of illegal immigrants were given the false hope that they would be spared the possibility of deportation.

How can using innocent people as political pawns in an attempt to achieve favorable election results be considered compassionate?

Although the news media is often loathe to criticize P Obama, this matter deserves fair and honest reporting.

DACA or no DACA

They were here illegally anyway and subject to deportation the whole time

They were given unlawful temporary "Deferred Deportation"

That has been terminated...back to Law & Order...continue deportation process

Now deport them and shut this down with no path to stay

No back door amnesty or citizenship

We have "dreamers" already waiting in line to come to this country legally...and these illegals can do the same. We cannot allow One Billion people on the planet to come here through the back door and then reward them for it.

DO NOT REWARD...DEPORT

Yes, he set a trap I believe he knew would be hard to reverse.

I look forward to the day they unseal Barry Sotero's records...expose him as a fraud and goes into exile of our soil.

Oh, I would like to see the Clinton's, both Bushes, and Obama led away in chains as well as all of their administration that worked against America.
