An illegal immigrant wanted for the alleged rape of two “minor girls” is now in the custody of ICE agents and faces deportation.

“I’m extremely proud of the professionalism and dedication to public service displayed by our Fugitive Operations team that made this arrest,” said Todd Lyons, Field Office Director, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), Boston.

The suspect is accused of rape and aggravated sexual assault against two “minor girls” in his home country. He was a wanted man with an Interpol “Red Notice” — a warning to police worldwide to arrest a suspect.

That red alert today has 7,448 suspects wanted for immediate arrest. The list includes criminal “masterminds” and others wanted from all over the world.

“Their rapid response in apprehending this individual will ensure he faces justice for his alleged depraved sexual criminal acts against children in Guatemala,” Lyons added. “This arrest should strengthen the peace of mind and sense of safety for all members of our community and shows that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will not be a safe haven for those wanted in their native countries.”

Suarez-Monroy is a foreign fugitive, and the subject of an Interpol Red Notice, wanted on felony aggravated sexual assault charges by a Guatemalan municipal court that prosecutes crimes of femicide and other forms of violence against women in Guatemala.

Suarez-Monroy was transported to the Boston ICE field office in Burlington for processing. Suarez Monroy entered the U.S. against immigration law in 2013, officials said.

ICE added Suarez-Monroy will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.

An illegal alien, wanted for raping two young girls in Guatemala, was able to live for nearly a decade in the United States after former President Obama’s administration failed to deport him.

Carlos Horacio Suarez Monroy, a 38-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, first arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2013 at the start of Obama’s second term, when he sought amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials confirmed this week that Monroy had been encountered at the border and was deemed inadmissible by U.S. Border Patrol. Instead of being immediately returned to his native country, Monroy was referred to ICE for deportation but was able to remain in the U.S. for nearly a decade.

On January 20, after having lived in the U.S. for roughly nine years, Monroy was arrested by ICE agents outside of his residence in Winthrop, Massachusetts. He has been wanted in Guatemala for raping two young girls.

For years, Monroy has been wanted by Guatemalan officials for raping two young girls and was subsequently put on an Interpol Red Notice. He has been charged with felony aggravated sexual assault.

Monroy now remains in ICE custody while he awaits deportation.
