HERMON, Maine — An illegal immigrant from Honduras was arrested Wednesday in connection with a domestic terrorizing incident shortly before he was scheduled to board a Greyhound bus bound for Florida, according to a law enforcement official.

Cruz Daniel Diaz Henriquez, 31, who has lived in Cherryfield in Washington County for the past year, was arrested at the Greyhound bus station at Dysart’s Truck Stop and Restaurant around 11:30 a.m.

Washington County sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Allen called the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday morning after hearing that Henriquez was at the station, and that he was wanted because of a threat he allegedly made to a woman in Washington County, according to Penobscot County sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Burgess.

Burgess said the woman who reported the threat claimed that Henriquez told her he was going to Florida to kill someone and that he then would come back and kill her.

Burgess said Henriquez was dropped off at Dysarts around 8 a.m.

Washington County Chief Deputy Shawn Donahue declined to provide details of the interview that led up to the arrest because the investigation is ongoing, but he said “we did receive information as to where he might be located.”

As a result of the interview with the Cherryfield woman, Henriquez was charged with one count of domestic violence terrorizing.

Allen contacted Penobscot County around 9:30 a.m. after speaking with the complainant, about two hours before the bus bound for Florida was scheduled to leave.

Deputy Noel Santiago, who speaks Spanish, translated for Henriquez at the bus station, and later took him to Penobscot County Jail.

Henriquez told Santiago that he didn’t plan on killing anyone and that he was traveling to Florida to stay with his brother. He said he didn’t plan on returning to Maine, according to Burgess.

Henriquez is a known illegal immigrant who is scheduled to appear in immigration court in Boston in July, according to the sergeant. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been informed of the arrest, Burgess said, adding that he wasn’t sure how long Henriquez has been in the United States.

Burgess and Santiago helped Henriquez get a refund for his bus ticket.

Donahue said Henriquez likely would be transferred from Penobscot County Jail to Washington County Jail on Wednesday afternoon or evening. He expected Henriquez to be arraigned on Friday.
