    U.S. has spent $37 Million removing illegals since 2008

    U.S. has spent $37M removing migrants since 2008

    So far this fiscal year, the U.S. government has spent more than $2.5 million to send immigration law violators back to their home countries, according to officials.

    The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported some 210,500 people have been removed from the U.S. between October 2015 and August 2016.

    The cost of repatriation in fiscal year 2015 was $12,213 per individual, according to ICE statistics.

    This includes all costs necessary to identify, apprehend, detain, process through immigration court, and remove an individual from the country.

    In a recent statement, ICE officials stated their agency is focused on, “Smart and effective immigration enforcement that prioritizes its resources based on those who pose the biggest threat to national security, border security and public safety.”

    “This includes convicted criminals and those apprehended at the border while attempting to unlawfully enter the United States. ICE’s civil enforcement efforts are based on priorities set by the Secretary of Homeland Security in November 2014,” the statement added.

    In fiscal year 2015, ICE began implementing the Department of Homeland Securities Priority Enforcement Program, which replaced the previous Secure Communities Program.

    This new program established three levels based on removal priority.

    Level one includes threats to national security, border security, and public safety, which include removable migrants who have been convicted of a felony;

    Level two includes removable migrants who have been convicted of a three or more “significant misdemeanors” to include, domestic violence or driving under the influence;

    Level three includes those removable migrants who have been issued a final order of removal, according to the ICE website.

    “ Ninety-eight percent of ICE’s Fiscal Year 2015 removals and returns fall into one or more of ICE’s civil immigration enforcement priorities, with 86 percent falling in Priority 1 and eight percent in Priority 2,” ICE officials stated via email. “In addition, ICE’s interior enforcement activities led to an increase in the percentage of interior removals that were convicted criminals, growing from 82 percent in fiscal 2013 to 91 percent in 2015.”

    Since 2008, ICE has removed more than 3 million people from the U.S. under these new guidelines with a total cost of more than $37 million, according to ICE data.

    In the Rio Grande Valley, repatriations occur on a daily basis. ICE usually has specific arrangements with the Mexican government for removals through all ports of entry on the southwest Texas border, according to ICE officials.

    “ It is also important to note that individuals being removed to Mexico are not released alone into isolated areas. They are released from ICE custody in the presence of officials from the Government of Mexico,” the statement reads.

    ICE also has five to seven repatriation flights per week to Central America that originate in the San Antonio area. Recently, the majority of removals have been of people apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border but that has not always been the case.

    More than half of the removals between 2008 and 2011 were a result of apprehensions in the interior of the U.S. The numbers for fiscal year 2016 were not available, but in FY 2015 70 percent of total removals were from the border, ICE data shows.

    In FY 2015, ICE removed individuals to 181 countries.

    Mexico continued to be the leading country with 146,132 removals, followed by Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

    Wouldn't it be nice if we spent as much apprehending and deporting illegals as we do to:

    1. Educate their children.
    2. Provide emergency medical care.
    3. Provide food stamps to the children of illegal immigrants.
    4. Prosecute and incarcerate illegal alien criminals.
    5. Support ESL programs in our schools.
    6. Provide free breakfast and lunch to illegal immigrant children in our schools.
    7. Pay out earned income tax credits through the IRS.
    8. Subsidize hospitals to furnish birthing procedures and follow on care for tens of thousands of illegal immigrant mothers who annually cross the border to give birth to their anchor babies.

    I'm sure there are a lot of items I've left off, not to mention the lost wages of American workers. In total I'm sure we're talking about billions of dollars spent annually.

    That pathetic figure just proves how few have been deported and exposes their deportation numbers as the total lie we knew they were or how totally affordable it is to deport every last one of them. You can't have it both ways, either it's cheap or they aren't doing what they claim.

    If the federal government had just secured the border and controlled immigration years ago think how much money city, county state and federal agencies could have saved.
