A 42-year-old man from Belarus is slated to be arraigned before a U.S. immigration judge, possibly as early as today, for trying to dash into the United States on the International Railroad Bridge from Niagara Falls, Ont. into Niagara Falls, N.Y.

The man was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents about 6 a.m. Tuesday, said Michael Scioli, lead agent for the Border Patrol in the region.

Scioli said the man was monitored by border patrol agents as he dashed across the bridge, only to be taken into custody when it got to the American side. The man's identity was not released to the news media Tuesday. He is being held in the Border Patrol's Buffalo station until he is moved soon to an Immigration Holding Center in Batavia.
