Border agents stopped an illegal border crossing Tuesday in Laredo when they found two people hiding in the windjammer of a tractor-trailer, officials said.
The truck was stopped for an inspection at the checkpoint in Interstate 35 when agents performing a nonintrusive scan discovered two men lodged in the small space under the truck’s windjammer.
The two unauthorized immigrants and the driver, a U.S. citizen, were arrested. None of them were identified.
This is not the first time that Laredo border agents have stopped a smuggling attempt that involved a tractor-trailer windjammer. On July 10, agents stopped two separate smuggling cases in which a total of four unauthorized immigrants were found hiding in windjammers, agents said.
All four people, who were identified as being from Mexico and Ecuador, were arrested.
