    A search by U.S. federal agents of a Mexico-bound pickup and trailer in Del Rio turned up 13 firearms and 1,045 rounds of ammunition.

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the international bridge found the weaponry concealed in the floor of the utility trailer late Tuesday.

    The hidden cache included nine shotguns, several pistols and an assault rifle. The vehicle, trailer and guns were seized, said Rick Pauza, a CBP spokesman.

    Federal officials declined to say why the driver, a 35-year-old Mexican citizen, wasn't charged.
