Son of Tejano singer gets prison in Tucson drug case
The son of a local Tejano music singer was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison Tuesday for his involvement in a drug-related money laundering scheme.
Adalberto C. Gallegos III, 33, assisted his father, 52-year-old Adalberto C. Gallegos Jr., in laundering nearly $75,000 worth of proceeds from marijuana transactions between February 2004 and July 2006, according to a plea agreement Gallegos III entered into on Oct. 20, 2008.
The elder Gallegos, who is lead singer of the group Latin Breed, pleaded guilty in May 2008 to laundering more than $270,000 in drug proceeds and was sentenced Dec. 22 to 15 months in prison.
