Hospital funds come with strings attached

Bay Area hospitals may refuse a new offer of millions of dollars to treat illegal immigrants because reporting requirements are too onerous and could deter sick people from receiving care.
"This may be money left on the table," said Dave Kears, director of the Alameda County Health Services Agency. "It's an empty gesture."

In a national news conference Monday, Dr. Mark B. McClellan, administrator for the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, announced that the agency has earmarked $1 billion for hospitals and doctors to provide emergency care to illegal immigrants.

The money was allocated as part of the 2003 Medicare Modernization Act, which added a prescription drug to Medicare. The funding was requested from members of Congress from border states, including Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

You can bet these hospitals have a bunch of illegals making beds and cleaning up after patients. They do around the area where I live. I know for a fact, they aren't legal. Try turning them in, they disappear, then come back. What a joke.

I hope the hospitals turn the money away and the illegals back to their country of origin.

This is a disaster of monumental proportion....and hey....

I'm with you Judy. They were elected to represent us...and they are doing a great job of representing ILLEGAL ALIENS...and that's all...we're sure not getting much of anything for our tax dollars.

No, RoadRunner, we're not getting the representation we elected through our Free Elections nor are we getting value for our tax payments or HUGE NATIONAL DEBT that will burden the next generation of Americans.

I'll start the work on a Petition. I"m not a lawyer, but can draw up something simple to get it posted so everyone who would like to sign it and provide some input. Then we'll need some guidance from ALIPAC on how they would like for us to proceed. I've got work today and was out most of the week, so it will probably be later this evening or tomorrow while I can focus on the wording to get it started.

I'm going to start it as a very simple document.

We need to impeach him NOW, there is no time to waste and ALL His cronies must go too! We CAN NOT wait three more years for these laws to take effect and the laws apparently mean nothing to Emperor Bush ANYWAY. His behavior is inexcusable and being a Republican I FEEL DUPED! Who is going to step in and run the country in the meantime? We need to check on that.
