LA ROSITA - A Border Patrol agent was attacked while trying to catch someone, Friday.
A criminal complaint was filed with the U.S. District Court.
According to the documents, the Border Patrol agent was patroling the La Rosita Area.
He attempted to conduct a traffic stop, when the driver of a minivan crashed into a fence.
The driver got out and ran.
After a short chase, the agent caught up to the driver and attempted to arrest him.
The driver resisted arrest and assaulted the agent by hitting him on the mouth, causing a cut and swollen upper lip.
Additional agents arrived on scene and were able to subdue and handcuff the driver.
He was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries to his mouth, knee and elbow.
Border Patrol agents seized 55 bundles of marijuana, weighing 1295 pounds from the minivan the man was driving.
In the documents Channel 5 News found, it does not say he is being charged with assault.
