Another shooting here in Laredo forces an early morning call to 9-1-1 and have paramedics and police rushed to an apartment complex in northwest Laredo. This shooting results in the death of a Border Patrol agent. Our Ryan Bailey brings us more on this unfortunate event.
"That parking lot was covered with the police department, there were cars all over the place. There were cops all around the stairwell with their guns drawn."
This neighbor who didn't want to be identified was startled at the amount of activity in her normally quiet apartment complex.
"I thought it was a hostage situation or domestic violence or something. That's what my initial reaction was."
"Homicide division is conducting a death investigation in regards to a call that we received here at the police station at 911 at approximately 3:30 in the morning."
Alejandro Garza has been confirmed as an off duty Border Patrol agent; other details are still unclear at this time.
"The particulars of the incident are still being looked at in conjunction with an ongoing autopsy."
Officials said he was shot in the upper body, with our sources saying it was a gunshot wound to the neck. Sources also say a woman was in the apartment when Garza was shot but her identity is still unknown.
"To release anything at this particular point would be preliminary and merit less."
Ryan Bailey, Laredos pro 8 news.
As of tonight border patrol spokespeople have not released a comment on this situation.
