Laredo Border Patrol Agents Discover Abandoned Bengal Tiger

Laredo, Texas – Border Patrol agents assigned to patrol near the Laredo Community College main campus discovered an abandoned tiger inside a small cage.

The discovery occurred this morning at about 1:30 a.m., as agents were conducting line watch operations. The agents saw an object that resembled a large bundle wrapped in a blue sheet. As they approached, they heard a growling sound and realized it was coming from the object. When they got closer to the bundle they realized it was a cage with an animal inside. Upon further investigation, they realized it was an abandoned Bengal tiger cub approximately four to six months old.

Agents secured the area and no subjects were found. The cub was secured and transported to the Laredo South Station. The cub will be evaluated by a local veterinarian and turned over to Texas Park and Wildlife.
