Important Immigration Study to Be Released August 30

WASHINGTON (August 2007) — New projections from the Center for Immigration Studies show that the current level of immigration (legal and illegal) will add more than 100 million people to the nation’s population by 2060. The report also shows that immigration has only a small impact on slowing the aging of American society.
While population growth has not been at the center of the immigration debate, polls show the public is deeply concerned about issues related to population size, including congestion, sprawl, preservation of open spaces, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The report, entitled, ‘100 Million More: Projecting the Impact of Immigration on the US Population, 2007 to 2060,’ is embargoed until its release on Thursday, August 30, at 9:30 a.m. The study will be available online at that time at www.cis.org ; advance copies are available to the media. The panel discussion marking the release of the report is free and open to the public.

Good for CIS. Combined with the work of the Heritage Foundation, these are important commentaries on why adding to the US population - rather than simply working towards maintenance and sustainability of the current level - is likely to erode the quality of life for all Americans.
In many places, not all of course, the natural environment is pressed to it's limits to sustain the human activity which exists now. For example, very serious confrontations regarding water resources in the Southwest and West in general exists, yet, at the same time, these areas tend to be the domicile areas of choice for many of our newly-arrived illegal border crossers. Hear of the controversy between the US/Mexican govts' regarding the canal near the CA/Mexico border recently - and how the US wanted to patch the leaking sections....
Then, we could talk about air pollution in places like Houston, LA,... even Portland OR, etc. Know anybody in your family that has emphysema or other respiratory problems? I do.
Another might be the loss of suburban vegetable farming in the outer fringes of large cities - being converted to newer cookie-cutter houses - eg. sprawl.
The list goes on and on...
None of these problems is ameliorated or improved by adding more bodies into the population mix - not one. Contrary to what the globalist businesspeople think, and to the behest of the pro-illegal/pro-mass legal immigration lobby would tell you... yes, there really are limits to how many people can live in a place and we are quickly arriving at that limit.
